Today, we bring you an incredibly dynamic local trip, spotlighting the beauty of Aswan’s Southern Nubia, courtesy of local travel platform ‘Clifftop Adventures.’ The best part? You can explore all the area has to offer at the time of your choosing and with anyone you please through a private trip.
Nubia is the host of one of the earliest civilisations of ancient Africa, the Kerma culture, and was the setting to several empires, the most famous of which is the Kingdom of Kush. Other than its rich history, Nubia is rife with opportunities to visit temples and sail down the Nile River bank to check out the surrounding greenery.
You’ll get to immerse yourself in the magical views of Aswan and Nubia on a sailboat as you sail down the Nile River, where you will be able to discover the vast reservoir Lake Nasser up close, and while gawking at Nile crocodiles and different species of birds. You’ll get to explore the Temple of Kalabsha and the Temple of Phila, and stop at one of Southern Nubia’s virgin islands for lunch with a view of the lake. Afterwards, you can try out your hand at rowing down the Nile to Barbar beach, where you can swim in the river with a view of rock formations, before sipping on traditional Gabana Bedouin coffee while overlooking a panoramic view. Travellers can also experience a Nubian party where they can enjoy some traditional Nubian live music. What’s more, the trip includes a final night camping by the river bank.
Prices vary depending on whether you choose to travel by train or plane, and the package includes two-night accommodation in Gharb Suheil, camping for one night, all activities, meals and entrance fees, boat/land transfers, and excludes transportation to and from Cairo
