The new policy was made after the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquitiess consulted with the Egyptian Tourism Federation, and is scheduled to take effect starting November 1st, 2021.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Khaled El-Enany, has announced the decision to set a minimum price for hotel accommodation, after having consulted and coordinated with the Egyptian Tourism Federation.
The new policy, subject to the provisions of Law No. 1 of 1973, is set at USD 40 in five-star hotels and USD 28 in four-star hotels, and is scheduled to take effect starting November 1st, 2021.
The policy was made in anticipation of a continued growth in tourism to Egypt, which is expected to return to pre-COVID levels by the fall of 2022.
